Raised in Pueblo West, Colorado, Colby Kleven began his musical studies at the age of six. His love for the French horn eventually brought him to the Juilliard School where in 2024, he earned a Bachelor of Music under the guidance of preeminent chamber musician Eric Reed. He now continues his graduate studies at Juilliard under Erik Ralske and Jennifer Montone as a proud recipient of the Kovner Fellowship.
Over the course of his musical career, Colby has performed with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Princeton Symphony, and the Royal Academy of Music Soloist’s Ensemble in London. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Juilliard Orchestra in Alice Tully Hall and with Juilliard415 on both baroque and classical horn.
Outside of performing, Colby is also an avid composer of works ranging from solo sonatas to pieces for chamber orchestra and has been invited to write for the Cascade Composers’ Sinfonietta. In his free time, he enjoys playing cards, visiting Central Park, teaching himself to play the guitar, and absorbing the boundless knowledge available to him on Wikipedia.
